Bay City Rowing Club (BCRC) is a non-profit community rowing organization with a mission to promote rowing as a healthy and rewarding activity for people of all ages. Founded in 1989, we continue to teach and develop rowing skills to new and experienced rowers in the Great Lakes Bay area and beyond.
Our club offers some of the best rowing in the Midwest. We are located on Middlegrounds Island in Bay City on the gentle Saginaw River. Members and program participants are rewarded with perfect flat-water rowing opportunities, great instruction and amazing scenery.

Our rowing season typically begins in April and ends in November. Exact dates are determined depending on weather and river conditions.

Bay City Rowing Club’s recently renovated multi-colored boathouse provides storage and exercise facilities for club members and class participants. We house a full set of rowing shells for various uses including recreational rowing and regatta racing. The club regularly used our boathouse for fun social activities for members, including cookouts and get-togethers.
Our site and dock are owned by the City of Bay City and are accessible for public use. In 2015, in partnership with the Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy, a new concrete kayak and canoe launch was installed between the boathouse and our dock which added an easy access point for paddlers that want to explore the Saginaw River. The river offers a relaxing paddle and beautiful scenery, and we highly encourage community members to take advantage of our access point to enjoy the water!
Unfortunately, we are not able to rent our boathouse for public use (although we agree that it is beautiful location!). We hope you are able to find another location for your needs.
The Bay City Rowing Club’s Great Lakes Bay Crew would like to thank the Midland Baseball Foundation for their generous donation to our program in 2019. This donation allowed us to purchase a coach launch boat, motor and dolly. We were presented with the check at a Loons baseball game at the Dow Diamond!
